a fail on new design project launch..

yesterday, i finally finished a long time project of redesigning “ncez.net” which is an internet service provider in the whiteville, nc area. they get about 5 thousand page hits daily and wanted something updated. since i knew the guy who asked me to do it, he left it up to me as to what it looked like. i like the “2.0-ish” modern look of websites so thats what i did. you can see the new look here: http://www.mwmaster.com/neznet

well today the new website design for “www.ncez.net” went up for about 2 hours and was then switched back to the old design due to the new design loading wayy to slow.. this is was not so much a big deal for highspeed people but they were worried about their dial-up customers with about a thousand of the 4 thousand daily page loads being dial-up connections.

i went in and changed some code around and tmade a few design tweaks and the website now loads about 75% faster than before.. there was coding that made the browser preload all of the images for the whole website when loading the main page and ofcourse that can take a good second even on a fast connection. I didnt really notice the time it took with me being on an 8meg internet (kinda shitty too!).

so tomorrow sometime we will try again and hopefully get “ncez 2.0” up to stay!

the new design is up at: http://www.mwmaster.com/neznet but will hopefully be up for a second time tomorrow at http://www.ncez.net.
